San Diego Bay Nonnative Limonium Control Project

We began controlling nonnative Limonium species (L. duriusculum, L. ramosissimum) in the San Diego Bay, California in 2022. The United States Fish and Wildlife Service Coastal Program funded the project. Since then we have received additional funding from the Coastal Program and the USFWS Legacy Region 8, Refuges Invasive Species Grant Program. Our partners include USFWS Refuges, Port of San Diego, United States Navy, California State Parks, Caltrans, Merkel and Associates, National City, and Dan Magy.

Rare Plant Discovery Surveys

The San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance funded rare plant discovery surveys to locate new rare plant populations and to update information about historical rare plant locations in San Diego County, California.

Protecting Southern California's at-risk Butterflies

We are working on a collaborative project involving surveys, habitat assessments, and site-specific restoration plans for the quino checkerspot butterfly and the Harbison's dun skipper. The Wildlife Conservation Board funded the project. Partners include the Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, County of San Diego, the San Diego Management and Monitoring Program, and the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance.

We are working with AECOM to prepare a draft rare plant monitoring protocol and rare plant management plans for the Natural Communities Coalition (NCC) of Orange County, California.
